Once upon a time, in a world where dental chairs were thrones of laughter and toothbrushes were magic wands, I stumbled upon the dental kingdom ruled by the legendary Dr. Duke and Dr. VanAlfen. Little did I know that my visit to this extraordinary realm would be filled with hilarity, jaw-dropping moments, and a dental experience like no other.
As I entered the dental office, the atmosphere was filled with an air of excitement and anticipation. Babette greeted me with a warm smile, instantly making me feel at ease.
As the dental hygienist, Ms. Megan, prepared her arsenal of dental tools, she regaled me with hilarious anecdotes that had me in stitches. Who knew that a dental cleaning could be so entertaining? With each gentle scrape and polish, she turned the chore of oral hygiene into a delightful comedy routine.
Throughout my visit, the dental team showcased their exceptional skills with a touch of whimsy. Dr. Duke even wore a pair of goofy glasses while examining my teeth, making me feel like I was in the presence of a dental wizard. “Abra-cadabra, your smile is about to dazzle!” he exclaimed, as he performed his magical dental wizardry.
But what truly set this dental experience apart was the genuine care and empathy shown by the entire team. They took the time to listen to my concerns, address my fears, and provide reassurance with a dose of laughter. It was as if they had mastered the art of turning dental anxiety into dental joy.
As I left the dental office, my heart was filled with gratitude and my smile was brighter than ever. Not only had I received top-notch dental care, but I had also been entertained, uplifted, and inspired by the incredible team of dental superheroes.

First glance, the building is new and very nice inside (think chandelier, a nice carpet runner on the stairs, and solid wood). Inside the suite, the front desk and dental tech staff seem to be genuinely happy. When being treated, my particular dentist was informative, helpful, and trustworthy for both my first exam and followed by a dental procedure. At my recent routine appointment, I was examined by another colleague in the clinic for my last examination, and felt equally confident that my dental care was of the same quality. She called two places for me, pushed for a same day appt, and got it, and provided my insurance info and contact info to the specialist office. When I lay down in the chair I am completely confident in Dr. Duke and his people. I can recommend this organization without reservation! I have been going to Focus Dental Group for over five years now. I recently had to have a crown replaced, Dr Duke and his staff did a wonderful job. They told me to stay away from sticky food for a few days. I was eating some granola with raisins and one of the raisins got stuck on my temporary crown and it came off. I called Focus and they got me in that very day. A new temporary crown was fabricated and installed within a few hours! The new permanent crown is wonderful. Peter27 August 2024Its a long story but I had experienced three minor surgeries that required me anesthetized. At some point when putting in the breathing tube the bottom of my mouth was scrapped with the tube. Forward a week. I am going to leave the country in four days. I have what I perceive as a very bad tooth ache. In a bit of a panic I called the doctors emergency number on Saturday (leaving the country on Wednesday), He told me he would make sure I was able to come in early Monday and he and his staff would take care of my problem, which turns out to be an infection. I show up Monday, the assistant takes xrays and photos, the doctor comes in diagnoses the situation, has a treatment plan and I am out the door by noon. This was an emergency appointment for a cracked/chipped front tooth. I did have to wait for a moderate amount of time but it was worth it! As someone with severe anxiety around the dentist I avoid it for too long and feel immense shame and anxiety every time I go. This is the first office I've been to that I am confident I'll make my next appointment and continue going. They used 0 shame techniques when discussing my personal habits or the state of my teeth. When I mentioned I struggled to keep up with flossing they told me that wasn't uncommon. Rather than the unhelpful "Well you need to figure it out, don't you know it's important??" They offered tips to help with executive dysfunction with no shame attached. They only told me "Many people struggle I find it helps to keep it in eyesight. It's easy to forget about when it's put away. Try keeping some floss out on your counter or on your bed side table and it may make it easier" the entire staff was compassionate and felt truly invested in my care and well being. I'm so grateful to have found them and don't feel the same anxiety and shame I used to knowing I can go back to them. Another thing I hugely appreciated, while getting a filling the dentist described step by step thre process and what I was going to experience along each step and kept an open line of communication to ensure I was comfortable the entire time. The whole process was less stressful knowing what I was to expect each step and getting updates throughout the procedure as to where we were in the process.Posted on Google

This team goes above and beyond for their clients. Things this dentist, and office did spectacular: 1. Numbing: I have a huge phobia of needles and am usually super scared of being numbed. Past dentists have numbed me and it’s always been super painful. When Dr Duke told me I would need to be numbed I got really anxious. He began and I waited and waited and waited… I felt nothing.. suddenly he said he was finished. I didn’t feel a thing!!!! It was amazing! Wow. He did an immaculate job. That was the best numbing experience I have ever had. 2. Skill and expertise: Hands down this dentist is I would dare say perfect at what he does. Everything he did was straight forward, and precise. He was extremely knowledgeable, and talked in a way I would understand him. His work inside my mouth was incredibly flawless, no accidental hits anywhere. Very clean and precise. Felt very well done and professionally the best I’ve had . Dr Duke also figured out exactly what was causing me pain. I told him a specific tooth has been hurting me and pointed out which one. He found the actual root problem In a tooth above that tooth. He also put a cap on a chipped front tooth and it looks seamless and flawless. Way better job than the previous dentist had done. I’ve included pics of the filling he replaced.. wow so much better. 3. Dr Duke went out of his way to accommodate me. I have several TBIs I’m healing from and one issue I have Is I can’t be around people. Dr Duke scheduled me to come in a 1/2 hour after they closed so no one else would be around. He was extremely caring and sensitive and made sure all of my needs were taken care of. Wonderful chair side manner. Very impressive and a wonderful guy all around! 3. My hygienist was incredible! Megan Duke is by far the Best hygienist I’ve ever had. She was so kind, understanding, compassionate and skilled. She made what could have been a rough experience very calm and positive. She was very talented and Loving. 4. The whole office did an amazing job. The office itself is warm and inviting and the receptionists were welcoming, helpful and kind. I’ll never go to another dentist office again. Nor another dentist or hygienist! . I recommend Dr Duke and his office to everyone! 20/10 stars ⭐️Posted on Google

Vince Ninh9 May 2021(Note: I am writing this review on behalf of my mom.) Dr. Duke is by far the best and kindest dentist I have encountered. During a check-up, I mentioned in passing that a previous dentist had done a poor job on an implant crown (the ceramic didn't entirely cover the metal base) and refused to fix it. Dr. Duke immediately said “I’ll do it” and only charged me for the lab work. Dr. Duke is also a perfectionist. He had the lab redo the crown three times as he deemed the first two inadequate. The amount of time Dr. Duke spent on getting my crown replaced (even though it was not his mistake) and the fact that he only charged me or the lab fees truly shows the kind of person he is.Posted on Google
Rebecca Hansen30 March 2021I have always hated going to the dentist and have had plenty of mediocre experiences as an adult. But I can finally, honestly say that I love my dentist. I've been going to Dr Van Alfen for a few years now and while I still don't enjoy having dental work done, he has been, by far, the best dentist I've been to. Kind, personable, explains things well, and is very conservative in his treatments. I've had several root canals done by him (I've always had bad teeth) and even though they such, Dr Van Alfen manages to make them suck a whole lot less. When I needed a filling they recommended Focus to us. I called and set up an appointment, the appointment was just a day later. No waiting weeks for a dental appointment. Last month, when my wife cracked a tooth two days before we needed to quarantine for two weeks to visit family, they made it work to get her in the next day. Natalie Lewis21 January 2021Their office works like a well-oiled machine. All of the staff communicates with each other and patients very well. I have dental anxiety which they treated with kindness, as well as other measures like television, headphones, and laughing gas. It made my experience of getting a lot of work done more tolerable. The office has a large fishtank filled with beautiful species as well as being beautifully decorated. At the same time all the rooms are separated from each other, being very covid-19 friendly.
