Dentures and Partial Dentures

When a patient is missing all of their teeth, dentures, also known as complete, traditional, or full dentures, are used. Teeth may be absent in either the upper or lower jawbone. Complete dentures are available in two styles: conventional dentures and immediate dentures.

If the dental patient still has several teeth that are sufficiently strong and in good condition, they can be used as a foundation for partial dentures. Full dentures and partial dentures are constructed with the same flesh-colored plastic or acrylic basis. They are designed to fit properly in the upper and/or lower portion of the mouth to replace missing teeth with natural-looking artificial teeth. They should be removed before going to bed at night and soaked in denture cleansing fluid overnight.

Full dentures are typically indicated for those who have no or very few salvageable teeth. Special attention is made to restoring the health of the mouth during the denture procedure, removing damaged or diseased teeth, curing infections, and ensuring the mouth is pain-free. Though you may have to wait a bit for your mouth to heal before your final denture installation, full dentures are an excellent option to improve oral health for persons who have severe or persistent dental problems.

Partial dentures are used to replace a single tooth or a few teeth and are less expensive than full dentures. They can swiftly restore the attractiveness of your mouth and fill in the gaps in your smile.

Partial dentures might also help to preserve the health of your remaining teeth. They can keep the remaining teeth from shifting and weakening, as well as prevent overuse of one side of the mouth, which can cause wear and damage.
